The Flying Elk

The Westland Wapiti wasn't a pretty airplane by any stretch. So today's quickie is also the latest edition of a recurring series we like to call 'So ugly only a mother could love it'.

This particular Wapiti IIA was operated by 1 Flying Training School, Royal Australian Air Force. That is, it was until it crashed shortly after take off from RAAF Point Cook in Victoria on August 13th, 1935.
