Keeping that in mind, all your blogmeister will say here is that in the early 1950s some nutjob thought it would be a good idea to develop the wacky-ass contraption shown below, called the de Lackner HZ-1 Aerocycle, as a highly mobile military recon vehicle, and that the primary means of maneuvering this thing was weight distribution. Oh, and it was intended for use by inexperienced infantrymen with a minimum of training... like... half an hour or so.
